New Pictures of Alexis

I just picked up Lexies 6 month pictures. I had to have them taken a little late because we were on vacation and then when I went to make her appointment she scratched her face. I couldn't take her to have pictures with a scab on her forehead. I wanted to share her new pictures. Enjoy!

Cousin Kenidee

The girls Aunt Stephenie and cousin Kenidee came up for a visit. They both LOVE Kenidee. Ellie has really enjoyed spending time with her. We went over today to play with her. When we got to JuJu's (Grandma) house Kenidee wasn't there yet. Ellie vert patiently waited for her so they could ride bikes together. When they got there the first things Kenidee wanted to do is hold her baby. She really loves Lexie. She held her and they both laughed and laughed. Meanwhile Ellie stood next to the couch getting a little annoyed that Kenidee was holding Lexie instead of playing with her. It is so sweet to watch Lexie and Kenidee interact. She loves to hold her, play with her, hug her. Ellie loves her sister very much but she never asks to hold and doesn't want to play with her at all. She gives her kisses and hugs and gives her a binky when she cries. She's a wonderful big sister. But I just love to watch Kenidee hold Lexie. It is just so sweet.

I keep trying to get a picture of lexie while she is laughing. She makes the cutest sounds and has a huge smile. Every picture I have gotten so far has been awful. I seem to catch the strangest looks.

A Sad Day...

Yesterday while driving Lexie made a strange gagging sound. So I pulled over and leaned back over the seat to make sure she was ok. I look back and she is happily chewing on her lovey. When she sees me she flashes me and huge smile. That is when I saw it! My little baby cut her first tooth. I am so sad about this. Considering that she is more than likely my last baby I don't want her to grow up. Obviously I know these things are going to happen and my baby is going to grow up, I just wish it would take a little longer.

My Sweet Lexie

Sometimes Lexie can be the sweetest baby and sometimes she can be the complete oposite. We have struggled since she came home with nap time and bed time. She hated sleeping in her bed and only wanted to be on me or next to me. We finally go ther sleeping ok in her car seat. That was only a temporary fix since obviously she can't sleep there forever. We transitioned her to her bassinet and she slept on a sleep positioner which held her in place. She has since learned to roll over and we had to take her out of the bassinet. We struggled again trying to get her to sleep in her bed. She would scream if I put her down unless she was completly asleep. We have made some great improvement since our vacation. She now goes to bed awake and puts herself to sleep with in about 10 mins. I couldn't be more grateful for this new change in her sleeping! Next step is getting the girls to share a room. Any Advice would be greatly appreciated. I just had to share this picture of her. Ellie only fell asleep while playing once, Lexie hadn't ever done it. I put her down after getting her ready for church and went to get myself dressed. When I came out I found her sound asleep on the floor, where she stayed for over an hour until Ellie ran her over with a toy. I thought it was so sweet. She looks so innocent and perfect. I just love it!

Nativity Set

I know it is only August, but I am getting into the Christmas mood. Since the holidays last year were spent on bed rest and I am really looking forward to this year. My girls were bought a new toy today by their Grandma JuJu (Nicks Mom). I have wanted it since last year and can't wait till it arrives. They are getting their own Nativity set. Fisher Price has a Little People Nativity. It can only be bought online and sells out really fast. I think I am more excited than they will be. I think it will be a great teaching tool for Ellie so she can start to understand the true reason for Christmas. Thanks Gandma JuJu!

A Trip Down Memory Lane

For some reason I have been a little nostalgic lately. Thinking back to my pre-kid days and all the fun things I used to do. Not that being a Mom isn't fun and rewarding. Sometimes I long for the days when I had no responsibilities besides school. So to kinda of curb my nostalgic feelings I thought I'd post some great old pictures.

Trip to the Cardiologist

We took Alexis in today for her Cardiologist appointment. They did the standard weight and length and then she was hooked up for an EKG. She had to hold still for 10 seconds to get a good reading. That was easier said than done. She was trying to roll so she could see the wires on her side. She finally held still and we got a 10 second reading. Then the doctor came in and listened to her and said he did hear a heart murmur. Then we went to have an Echocardiogram. Nick and I both had to help hold onto her and distract her so she would quit wiggling. She really did do a great job and only started to fuss right at the end. She spent some of the time watching the screen, which was funny because everytime Nick would say, "Alexis watch the T.V." she would turn and watch. We found out that she has an "innocent" heart murmur. Which means everything is fine. He said everything in her heart looks perfect and that it should go away by the time she is 1. It was great news!

Summer Vacation

We just got back from a very eventful vacation to Utah and Idaho. We drove down with my Mom and I have to say my girls did amazing! Alexis slept for most of the trip and Ellie watched Little Einsteins the entire way. We split the drive into 2 days. We stopped at my Aunt Shirley's house in Boise and Ellie had a blast playing with my cousins daughter Emily. If you ask Ellie were we stopped she will say, "Aunt Sureys".

We left my Mom at my Grandmas house and headed up to Rigby, Idaho to visit my brother- in-law and sister-in-law Robin and Stephenie and my niece Kenidee. Her and Ellie are only about a month and a half apart and they loved each other! They had a great time playing together and we were surprised how similar they have become. They are starting to look more alike and they act very much alike. Ellie calls Kenidee, "n-yaki" I'm not sure were she came up with that one, but it is cute.

Lexie loved visiting Uncle Robin and Auntie Stephenie. She really took to Robin, I think it because he looks like her Daddy. She enjoyed every minute of being held and paid attention to. As you can see in the picture Kenidee loved her too!

Every Thursday in Salt Lake they run Irrigation water through the road. When Ellie got up she saw this and decided it would be great fun to play in the water. It's clean water so we didn't care. It was moving so quickly it almost knocked her over.

We went to Hogle Zoo on Tuesday and Ellie was in heaven. She loves animals. My Mom told her she could walk and she took full advantage of that. She walked all over the zoo, for 4 hours she walked. She would stop and look at an animal and when she was done she would say, more, bye bye elephant (or whatever she was looking at) She loved the giraffes and the monkeys. She didn't like the leopards or the cheetahs. Her favorite things were riding on the train and the Merry go Round.

Of course Lexie just hung out the whole time. As long as she is being held she is a wonderful baby. I like to think she enjoyed looking at everything.

I think that if Ellie knew what it meant she would have said that it was the best day of her life. Unfortunately the day quickly went down hill as we left the zoo. When we got in the car we noticed that Ellie was unusually warm. She was running a low fever so we gave her some Tylenol and put her down for a nap. She woke up and her fever started to go up again. She was very clingy and was not herself. After a while we started to worry that maybe she had heat stroke. We called and talked to a Nurse at Children's Hospital her recommended we take her to the ER especially if she began throwing up. My grandma called some Men from her ward who came over and gave her a blessing. After that she stared to throw up. We decided it was time to take her in. There is Children's Hospital in Salt Lake so that's where we went. They saw her quickly and made the decision that she needed an IV, she was dehydrated. She was given quite a bit of fluids and was feeling much better. They sent her home with a fever of 99.5 and we thought things would be fine. It took about 20 minutes to get home and we gave her some Tylenol to help keep the fever down. She immediately threw it up. We noticed that she was getting a lot warmer and took her temperature again. It how now been almost an hour since she had been discharged and her fever had spiked up to 104.5. We called the hospital back and they said to give her the Tylenol again and check her fever in an hour. If she threw it up again or the fever didn't go back down we needed to bring her back in. It was already almost 2 am. I was so scared and worried about her. Luckily her fever went back down and when she woke up it was almost gone. I couldn't be more grateful for having my Mom there. She had Ellie the whole time, she even slept with her. She bounced back over the next few days but has lost a few pounds.

We made it home in one piece and couldn't be happier to be home. Vacation was wonderful and I'm glad we went but there really is no place like home. The girls were so excited to see their Daddy, their faces were priceless when they saw him. Ellie came in the house and when she went into her room she got really excited and said, "My night, night" She was certainly happy to be sleeping in her own bed again, as was I.

6 Months Old

I can't believe that 6 months has already past since Lexie was born. She went in for her check up today. She now weighs 11lbs 15oz and is 22in. She got the ok to start food and loved the green beans she got today. We did get some possibly bad news. Her doctor notice that she has developed a heart murmur. He thinks it is nothing serious but just to be safe he is sending Alexis to a pediatric cardiologist. He said most likely she will have to have an EKG. Hopefully we can be seen in the next few weeks and know for sure if she's ok.
