We just got back from a very eventful vacation to Utah and Idaho. We drove down with my Mom and I have to say my girls did amazing! Alexis slept for most of the trip and Ellie watched Little Einsteins the entire way. We split the drive into 2 days. We stopped at my Aunt Shirley's house in Boise and Ellie had a blast playing with my cousins daughter Emily. If you ask Ellie were we stopped she will say, "Aunt Sureys".
We left my Mom at my Grandmas house and headed up to Rigby, Idaho to visit my brother- in-law and sister-in-law Robin and Stephenie and my niece Kenidee. Her and Ellie are only about a month and a half apart and they loved each other! They had a great time playing together and we were surprised how similar they have become. They are starting to look more alike and they act very much alike. Ellie calls Kenidee, "n-yaki" I'm not sure were she came up with that one, but it is cute.
Lexie loved visiting Uncle Robin and Auntie Stephenie. She really took to Robin, I think it because he looks like her Daddy. She enjoyed every minute of being held and paid attention to. As you can see in the picture Kenidee loved her too!
Every Thursday in Salt Lake they run Irrigation water through the road. When Ellie got up she saw this and decided it would be great fun to play in the water. It's clean water so we didn't care. It was moving so quickly it almost knocked her over.
We went to Hogle Zoo on Tuesday and Ellie was in heaven. She loves animals. My Mom told her she could walk and she took full advantage of that. She walked all over the zoo, for 4 hours she walked. She would stop and look at an animal and when she was done she would say, more, bye bye elephant (or whatever she was looking at) She loved the giraffes and the monkeys. She didn't like the leopards or the cheetahs. Her favorite things were riding on the train and the Merry go Round.
Of course Lexie just hung out the whole time. As long as she is being held she is a wonderful baby. I like to think she enjoyed looking at everything.
I think that if Ellie knew what it meant she would have said that it was the best day of her life. Unfortunately the day quickly went down hill as we left the zoo. When we got in the car we noticed that Ellie was unusually warm. She was running a low fever so we gave her some Tylenol and put her down for a nap. She woke up and her fever started to go up again. She was very clingy and was not herself. After a while we started to worry that maybe she had heat stroke. We called and talked to a Nurse at Children's Hospital her recommended we take her to the ER especially if she began throwing up. My grandma called some Men from her ward who came over and gave her a blessing. After that she stared to throw up. We decided it was time to take her in. There is Children's Hospital in Salt Lake so that's where we went. They saw her quickly and made the decision that she needed an IV, she was dehydrated. She was given quite a bit of fluids and was feeling much better. They sent her home with a fever of 99.5 and we thought things would be fine. It took about 20 minutes to get home and we gave her some Tylenol to help keep the fever down. She immediately threw it up. We noticed that she was getting a lot warmer and took her temperature again. It how now been almost an hour since she had been discharged and her fever had spiked up to 104.5. We called the hospital back and they said to give her the Tylenol again and check her fever in an hour. If she threw it up again or the fever didn't go back down we needed to bring her back in. It was already almost 2 am. I was so scared and worried about her. Luckily her fever went back down and when she woke up it was almost gone. I couldn't be more grateful for having my Mom there. She had Ellie the whole time, she even slept with her. She bounced back over the next few days but has lost a few pounds.
We made it home in one piece and couldn't be happier to be home. Vacation was wonderful and I'm glad we went but there really is no place like home. The girls were so excited to see their Daddy, their faces were priceless when they saw him. Ellie came in the house and when she went into her room she got really excited and said, "My night, night" She was certainly happy to be sleeping in her own bed again, as was I.
