The Terrible two's

Ellie has always done a wonderful job getting her pictures taken. She sits right down and smiles. The first picture is always great and we're done in less than 30 mins. I scheduled her two year pictures thinking we would have the same experience we always have. I was so very wrong. I had been telling her that we were going to get her pretty pictures taken and she was excited. When we walked in the door she said , "no pictures." She meant it! She wouldn't sit down and when I put her where she needed to be she screamed. I told her she was going to sit down and we were going to take her picture. She had other ideas. She screamed and I finally gave up. I figured she was having an off day and we would try again later. So I rescheduled for a week later. We talked about all week. She said she was going to take pretty pictures. I thought this time it was going to work. All the way to the store she was saying pretty pictures. When we walked in the door she said, "no pictures." This time I could get her sit but she was still crying. We got a picture of her oh so attractive crying face. I started talking to her and made her laugh and we were able to get one good picture. We didn't even try to get more. She has tears in her eyes and her face is red. I figured that it was a picture worth buying. It showed how she has been at two. She is definently in her terrible two's!

Poo Poo Pony

On the Fourth of July Ellie picked out a stuffed unicorn while we were shopping. She didn't put it down for several hours. She played on the toys with it, ate lunch with it and took it with her for nap. This was the day of the big poop in her bed. Her brand "pony" was covered in it and had to be washed. She wanted to bring it with her to the BBQ we went to so she could show Nanny. She took it into the house and showed Nanny and told her all about the poop poop in her night night. One of my Aunts jokingly called it her poo poo pony. The name has stuck and she now lovingly calls it her poo poo pony.

Internet friends

Since Ellie was born I have been a member of the website Babycenter. They give what is called a birthclub where you can talk to other Moms who have kids born in the same month. I'm a member of the June 2006 birthclub and there is a subgroup of 8 women who are all from the Seattle area. We occasionally get together for playdates but usually only a few people can make it. We decided to have a group birthday party for all our june kids. I was so fun to meet everyone and watch our kiddos interact. Ellie was a crazed maniac and everyone commented on how high energy she is. She ran all over the yard, in and out of the pool, tried to ride the trike off the patio. By the time we were ready to leave she was filthy. We tried to take a few pictures of the kiddos, obviously an impossible task.

Lexie's favorite toy

After searching for something that Lexie would enjoy she discovered something that will entertain her for minutes on end. (That's a lot of time in Lexie world!) Silly me thought that she would enjoy toys, no her new favorite is her toes. I can now lay her on the floor and she will play with her toes for up to twenty minutes. It is wonderful! I think she is so darn cute laying on the floor with both her feet up to her mouth. Many times the toes are being sucked on and she is cooing and smiling away as happy and content as can be. Thank goodness for Lexie's toes.

Entertaining Lexie

I love Lexie more than I can express, but she is sometimes a little stinker! She wants to be held all the time. If I don't hold her she cries. Obviously this doesn't work for me. I refuse to be holding her all the time. So I've been trying to finds thing that will entertain her for awhile. She hates the swing so that's out of the question. We have a bouncy seat, that's ok for a short time but she really wants to be sitting or standing. So I decided to buy her an exersaucer. Off to the store I went and when I saw the price of an excersaucer I about died. I was not paying $70 for a toy my child probably won't even like. I found the next best thing for only $40. It is pretty much the same concept of an exersaucer except the bottom has adjustable heights and it is bouncy. So I bought it for her and spent at least an hour trying to put it together. Of course she wasn't to happy to be in it the first time. Ellie on the other hand loved it. She climbed right in and started bouncing. I tried it again the next day. I put her in and sat down at the computer. She was quiet, after a few minutes of this uncommon event I checked on her. I thought she was just having a great time playing with her new toy. I was wrong. She had turned herself so she was facing the T.V. and you guessed it she was very contently watching T.V. I guess both of children are going to be T.V. aholics.

Gymnastics

As part of Ellie's birthday present we enrolled her in a gymnastics class. I was very hesitant to do it becuase I wasn't sure how she would do in class. Ellie isn't exactly known for her excellent listening skills or attention span. To my surprise and excitment she did awesome and loved it. She has been talking a lot about it and loves to show what she has learned. So far all she has really learned is a summersault. I'm excited about the class becuase it gives her chance to work on listening and following directions. She does exactly what her teacher asks her to do. It has been a great experience and I'm glad we decided to do it.

Shopping for Lexie

I very rarely get any good cute pictures of Lexie. Today I was sitting in the living room holding her while Ellie was playing. Ellie's shopping cart was sitting in front of me and I thought Ellie would think it was funny if I put Lexie in it. So I did. She was so cute sitting in there I had to take a few pictures.

4th of July

Boy did we have some excitement on the fourth. The girls both had cute Fourth of July outfits to wear, Ellie's was a denim dress. Normally she wears a onesie or something over her diaper. I figured that she was getting old enough now that we didn't have to cover her diaper. We went out to the mall and did some shopping and had lunch. We didn't have any problems. I put Ellie down for her nap and was excited about the idea of two hours of peace and quiet. She fell right asleep and after 30 mins she started screaming. Since this wasn't normal I went in. I opened the dorr and was assaulted by the awful smell of poop. When I turned on the light I immediatley saw her diaper on the floor. She was standing in the corner of her crib and there was poop everywhere. She had taken her diaper off, fallen asleep and pooped! In her defense she did not play in it. She was very upset. So Nick took her and cleaned her up and I cleaned up her bed. She did not want to get back in beacuse there was poop in her night night. I had to show her that I had cleaned it up and explained that everything was in the wash and when she woke up she could have her things back clean. She did go back to sleep and was well again in our house. She hasn't stopped talking about it. She tells me when she has her stuffed unicorn and blanket out that she pooped on them. Needless to saw I learned a valuable lesson that day. Ellie is not old enough to go without a onesie.

Bathing Beauties

I didn't think I would ever dress my girls in two piece bathing suits, but when I saw these I thought they were cute. They didn't need new swimsuits but I couldn't resist them. They aren't the most practical swimsuits. The bottoms literally fall off of Ellie and Lexie certianly didn't need a swimsuit. But I caved and bought them anyway.
